Dr. John Lamberton and his brother Jim received their first horse, a weanling filly named Debbie, in 1957. In 1963, Debbie had a beautiful sorrel foal, a colt named Major pictured on the left. Dr. Lamberton and Major were inseparable for over twenty years. While riding a friend's horse, however, at the age of sixteen, Dr. Lamberton had a nearly fatal accident when he was dragged by the horse through the rough country-side and forest when roping calves in the Ranch pasture.

After several operations and a long recovery period. Dr. Lamberton lost much of the use of his right arm and hand. Since he was right-handed at the time of the accident in 1964, he learned to become left-handed since that time. The physical challenges Dr. Lamberton has faced have been a blessing and challenged him to develop habits of critical thinking and problem-solving.
Through his corporation Lookout Mountain Ranch, LLC, Dr. John Lamberton represented a horse food supplement called CARE CUBES. CARE CUBES contained a proprietary yeast protein developed in the laboratories of Phillips Petroleum Company, Bartlesville, Oklahoma and marketed through the Provesta Corporation, a subsidiary company. The protein yeast is called "Provesteen T" and was also added to a fish food called "Aqua Culture" and a cookie for human consumption called "Meal on the Go." Dr. Lamberton's two-time Reserve World Champion Gelding and All-American Quarter Horse Congress winner, R W Quincy Ladd, was designated the CARE CUBE horse and appeared on most of the CARE CUBES literature such as the following pamphlet.
Many horsemen and women thought that the following ad may have been the greatest ad to ever be depicted in the Quarter Horse Journal. The ad was introducing a weanling mare, I Love Money, produced by two world champions: Mr. Sonny Money and My Tru Luv. It features Dr. Doyle Meadows and Dr. John Lamberton, Lookout Mountain Ranch, and Chip Knost and Mike McMillian, professional horsemen.
