Dr. John Lamberton founded, edited and published the FREE INQUIRY Academic Journal in 1972.  After the first issue was published and under Dr. Lamberton's direction, FREE INQUIRY was adopted by the Oklahoma Sociological Association.  FREE INQUIRY was then published by a consortium of Oklahoma Universities including the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University.  The Oklahoma Sociological Association was formed by a group of Oklahoma sociologists including Gene Acuff, Lloyd Taylor, Ray Quiett, Ralph Fagin and John Lamberton.  About 60 state sociologists attended the first meeting.
